TEACHING MATHS THE MULTISENSORY WAY - MODULE 1
"Problem Solving plays an important role in mathematics and should have a prominent role in the mathematics education of K-12 students. However, knowing how to incorporate problem solving meaningfully into the mathematics curriculum is not necessarily obvious to mathematics teachers." - National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)
Key Highlights
The training, focusing on hands-on application, will also include theory and research. Evidence based methods of instruction will be introduced with use of manipulatives - a multi-sensory approach.
Objective
Participants will identify the critical stages in mathematics learning of young children and their implications for remediation when mastery is not achieved. Participants will generate materials for the teaching of basic operations through three levels of instruction: concrete, representational and abstract. Participants will demonstrate proficiency in teaching multi-sensory math utilising the CRA method of instruction.
