Dear Friends,

Have you come across any children who are smart, curious, intelligent, eager and yet seem to struggle with academics?  Have you met parents lamenting that their child doesn’t pay attention to the teacher, is easily distracted in class, and can’t keep up with his written work from the blackboard?  Or maybe struggling to understand maths and languages?

Chances are very high that this child is dyslexic.

And because he’s a non-performer in class, schools often ask these children to leave. Can you imagine if Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, Leonardo da Vinci, Richard Branson, Tom Cruise and Michael Phelps had dropped out of school, got dejected, and not pursued their passion, what the world would have lost out on?  These are just a few of the highly talented dyslexics who have contributed invaluably to the world of science, arts and business.

Estimates are that nearly 10% of any given population has dyslexia, a neurological disorder that is largely unrecognized by the educational community.  That’s why it’s called the “hidden disability”.

The Maharashtra Dyslexia Association (MDA) is a non-profit organization founded by parents  in response to a widely felt need to advocate for the rights of these students with Specific Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia).  MDA is committed to ensuring that these students receive an appropriate education within the mainstream, and are not forced to drop out of school.  MDA  works closely with the State Education Department to promote a better understanding of these students’ needs and also provides a wide range of quality services for affected students and their families.

Due to our untiring efforts, several thousand children have benefitted over the years, and gone on to achieve their inherent potential in various fields.  But many more need our help, for which we are turning to you.

The Mumbai Marathon presents us with an ideal opportunity to tap into the generous spirit of the city and helps us raise the much-needed funds for our various activities.  We are counting on your kind support to help us do this once again during the 2015 Marathon.

Three ways in which you can assist us:

1)         Your company can participate in the Corporate Challenge by pledging its support to the MDA.

2)         As an individual runner you can buy your bibs directly from Procam, but donate to  MDA.  And tell your friends to do  likewise.

3)         You can buy the auctioned bibs from MDA, in case you or your friends missed registering in time.

We  look forward to your support for this very worthwhile cause. Do call us on 25565754 to take this further.
