A series for parents by Ms. Bela Raja, counselor and author of the book "Children with Learning Difficulties" – How to Help. A Guide for Parents and Teachers". Parenting a child is a complicated task; even more so when the child has a Learning Disability. It is imperative that parents understand why their children find it difficult to perform even the normal age appropriate tasks or meet academic demands in order to help them mature, keep them motivated and build their self-esteem. Built into each session are several strategies that parents can use to teach their children academic skills like map reading, remembering a chemical formula or dealing with a lesson in prose for older students, or help with homework and preparing for tests. Ms. Bela Raja has varied experience in special education over the last fifteen years. She was responsible for initiating the Resource Room at the Valley School in Bangalore, and is currently associated with the Sahyadri School, Pune. She is the author of a book, "Children with Learning Difficulties – How to Help. A Guide for Parents and Teachers" which is being used as a textbook by several teacher training institutes in India. She firmly believes in empowering parents to work with their LD children and a large part of her work focuses on this area. Dates: 15th, 22nd, 29th November & 6th of December Time: 10am -12.30pm
