MDA had its first felicitation ceremony of the graduates of the Dyslexia Therapist Training Programme conducted by MDA on 24 October 2013.

The Dyslexia Therapist Training Programme was pioneered by MDA in India in 2008 in conjunction with the Multisensory Language Training Institute of New Mexico, USA.   The two year, hands-on course trains teachers, special educators and therapists in the use of a multisensory structured programme (in this case ‘Sounds in Syllables’). Research has proved this methodology to be the most effective in teaching language skills to children with neurologically based learning issues. Outside of the US, the MDA is the only organization that conducts the certification examination on behalf of the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA), USA. Currently, five Therapists have received their Certification from the ALTA, while five more have completed the course and have received a joint certificate from the MDA and the MLTI-NM.

The chief guest for the evening was our patron, Ms Pheroza Godrej. Also gracing the occasion was Ms. Sandra Dillon, Director of MLTI-NM and author of ‘Sounds in Syllables’.
